Preparing for a leak detection visit

Simple access arrangements are more useful than trying to find the leak yourself.

Tell us what you have noticed

Explain where the problem is visible and when it began. If you already have photos or previous engineer findings, keep them available. You do not need to run tests, take meter readings or choose a detection method before enquiring.

Arrange permission and practical access

Make sure the relevant occupier knows about the visit and someone can approve the agreed work. Tell us about locked gates, parking permits, managed entrances or shared water controls. Neighbouring flats and communal spaces may need separate permission.

Make known access points reachable

Where safe, keep accessible cupboards, existing panels, stop valves or manifolds clear. Do not lift floors, remove ceilings or dismantle fittings to prepare. The engineer will explain any opening needed after investigation.

Confirm the job before paying

The appointment and scope are agreed before a £100 residential booking deposit is requested. It is deducted from the £1,350 total. Commercial work receives a separate quotation, and an enquiry alone does not confirm a booking.

What to tell us when you enquire

Simply describe the symptom and the property. If you already have a water company letter, an earlier plumber’s findings or photos, have them available. You do not need to diagnose the leak before contacting us.
